FEBRUARY 24 - MARCH 6, 2026
The capital city of Oaxaca de Juarez is the home base for this tour to the rich and fertile state of Oaxaca in Southern Mexico.

This elegant Spanish Colonial city, named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987, offers an abundance of museums and markets, architectural and artistic wonders, excellent shopping opportunities around every corner, and arguably some of the best street art in the world.

During our time in Oaxaca we will stay at the oh-so-lovely Casa de las Bugambilias B&B, a family-run inn located just a few blocks from pretty much everything.

I have been staying here since the earliest days of My Mexico Tours, so It feels like coming home for me, and I predict it will feel like that for you as well.

In the valleys outside of the city of Oaxaca we will visit the homes, workshops, and studios of talented artists where a vast variety of renowned fine art, folk art, and handcrafts of Oaxaca are created.

San Bartolo Coyotepec is the home of Oaxaca's beloved barro negro as well as the Oaxaca State Folk Art Museum, where dear friend and museum director Carlomagno Pedro Martinez will lead us through the current exhibitions.

In Ocotlan, beloved artist Rodolfo Morales left his forever mark on the town in his fun and funky kitchen featured in MEXICOCINA.

...and in the former Franciscan convent that his philanthropic trust transformed into a stunning art museum...

We will visit villages where ceramics both utilitarian...

and decorative...

...are created.
Cotton and wool are dyed with natural dyes and woven on backstrap and footlooms...

Textiles are embroidered...

And wood is carved and painted into fantastical figures called alebrijes...

Ancient Mixtec and Zapotec ruins offer yet another interesting facet of Oaxacan culture to explore; our trip will include in-depth guided visits to important sites such as Monte Alban...

And as if all that were not enough, Oaxaca is rightfully renowned for its complex and delicious regional cuisine. Our culinary experiences — in cooking classes...

Casual farm-to-table settings...

And Michelin starred establishments...

...will allow us to savor a wide array of these glorious Oaxacan culinary specialties.
